Staff Accountant

The City of Keene’s Finance Department is looking for a professional to join their team as a Staff Accountant!  This position provides accounting, administrative and financial analysis to support City-wide operations including activities of the general fund, various enterprise, and special revenue funds in support of management of personnel, operations, grants, and capital project activities.


Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
• Documents, initiates and/or verifies financial transactions and supporting reconciling financial activities across finance divisions. 
• Serves in a lead role compiling, editing, and publishing reports and documents and maintains fixed assets on behalf of city-wide operations.
• Maintains grant and project files for all City grants including online grant systems assisting with preparation for audit and compliance with various grant and project reporting requirements.
Maintains various schedules as assigned related to regularly scheduled payments or receipts with entities such as school districts, not-for-profit partners, and debt.
Maintains debt service schedules as required and tracks debt service payments, prepares wire transfer requests for payments and prepares entries to property record such payments.
 
Requirements include, but are not limited to:
• Education (certificate, associates, or bachelor’s degree) and work experience in accounting functions including general ledger, receivables, payables, and payroll transactions with 3-5 years of work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and work experience in finance in the public or non-profit sector.
• High level of proficiency using accounting, spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, and publication software.
 
Pay and Benefits include:
• This full-time position offers a pay range of $27.98- $34.87 per hour.
