Keene, NH – Monadnock United Way announces the appointment of Ed Guyot, MBA, CPA, CGMA and partner in the public accounting firm of John G. Burk & Associates - Keene, New Hampshire, as Chair of the MUW Board of Directors.  Guyot was elected during the 2021 Monadnock United Way Annual Meeting which also saw the awarding of the first ever Ken Jue Award named for long time MUW member and former board chair, Ken Jue.

Guyot has been a member of the MUW board since 2017.  He most recently served as Treasurer and helped guide the organization through a transition to its current impact focused funding models.

“We are delighted to welcome Ed as board chair,” said MUW President, Liz LaRose. “His business expertise, experience sitting on nonprofit boards at a national level, and his commitment to the community will serve our organization well. We look forward to his leadership as we continue addressing needs for children, education and financial stability throughout the region.”

Ken Jue was honored as he transitioned off the MUW Board of Directors after seven years of service with the inaugural Ken Jue Award. The award  recognizes his deep commitment to community by championing initiatives that impact the lives of those living in our region; promoting and engaging in deep collaboration; and ensuring that people have the opportunity to participate in solutions affecting their lives.

The Ken Jue Award will be presented annually to an individual, business, nonprofit, or community-based initiative that exemplifies the qualities embodied by Ken—commitment to community, deep collaboration, and dedication to inclusion.

In making the presentation of the Award, MUW President, Liz LaRose said, “Ken, in your role on the board, you have led MUW through one of the most significant changes in our history. You bring your whole self to your work. You are fearless, focused and centered on what is just and fair. Your commitment to serving others compels us all to identify solutions that profoundly affect people’s lives.  On behalf of the MUW Board and Staff, we are pleased to name this annual award in your honor so that others may follow in your footsteps. ”

Ken accepted his award with family, friends, and fellow board members in virtual attendance during the 2021 MUW Annual Meeting.  He said, “Many people have done what I have done for our communities, and many are doing incredible community volunteer service now.  So, it is a special honor for me to be recognized in this manner, when so many others also deserve such recognition.  I have completely enjoyed the people who have volunteered alongside me, and I have long believed that the Monadnock United Way is an excellent vehicle for doing this volunteer work.”

Other officers elected at the February meeting include Vice Chair - Katie Cassidy Sutherland, AIA, LEED, AP and principal of kcs Architects, Treasurer - Alex Kapiloff, MBA, CPA, CGMA, Vice President of Kapiloff Insurance, and Secretary - Elizabeth Coppola, Account Executive at The Richards Group.
