The City of Keene is seeking an experienced and energetic professional to take on a senior leader role in the Public Works Department, helping to support the City's mission of providing clean water for use in drinking, fire protection, and in commercial and industrial activities in the City of Keene and the North Swanzey Water and Fire Precinct.
The Water and Sewer Operations Manager is responsible for budgeting, planning and coordination of all operations and activities related to City sewer collection and water distribution infrastructure and meter reading operations. Responsible to review the sewer collection and water distribution systems, identify problems and determine optimum solutions; oversee meter reading and backflow prevention programs; to lead the division staff; plan and organize work of subordinate personnel; and evaluate employee performance. Participate as a senior leader in the Public Works Department and City activities and operations. Communicate effectively verbally and in writing with staff, senior management, elected and appointed officials, board and commissions, and the public.
Bachelor's degree; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Considerable knowledge of water supply, distribution and sewer collection systems; Principles of supervision; construction requirements for water, sewer, hazards and precautions associated with trench work and water sewer line construction; State and Federal regulations dealing with installation and maintenance of water and sewer collections systems; water quality laws, water sampling methods and regulations; budget preparation and fiscal management. Valid New Hampshire Motor Vehicle License and Grade III NH Water Distribution License required. Grade III NH Wastewater Collection License required within eighteen months of employment.
Note: This position is subject to stand-by duty and call-back during non-regular working hours, weekends, and holidays.
Salary and Benefits:
This position offers a salary of $67,640- $84,293 annualized, with a strong benefits package, including health, dental, life, disability, retirement, paid leave time and more!
