Pollinators Matter - How to Attract and Observe Workshop
Workshop with Jodi Turner of Imagine That Honey!
Keeping honey bees and offering local beekeeping instruction has been Jodi’s passion for almost 20 years. Insects haven’t really changed, but the process of keeping honey bees, and now Mason bees has; you have so many choices! Now, more than ever, it is important that we become more self-sufficient, know where our food comes from, and how to treat our environment with the respect it deserves. Life is a journey. Learning more about how we can help ourselves and others is part of that quest.
This workshop will cover beekeeping as well as preparing and caring for Mason Bees. We’ll also talk about how we can encourage beneficial insects to visit our yards. Adding pollinators is a great way to increase the yield in your garden, as well as share an excellent educational opportunity with friends and family. We’ll offer suggestions, pros and cons, and review a variety of bee houses.
Everyone will make and take home a seed bomb to toss and watch grow. These are a collection of seeds pressed into a soil medium that can be tossed into an open field, roadside, or into your own yard. We’ll talk about the types of flowers that specific bees are attracted to, and we hope that you’ll decide to make more on your own!
This 1-1/2 hour workshop will pass so quickly. This is just the beginning, and you’ll be amazed at how easily you can make a difference. For more information: www.imaginethathoney.com
