Name: Monadnock Region Earth Festival
Date: April 22, 2017
Time: 12:00 PM - 4:00 PM EDT
|KEENE, NH - Monadnock Food Co-op presents the Monadnock Region Earth Festival on April 22, 2017 from Noon to 4:00 pm (rain date of April 23). This free public event takes place outdoors around the Co-op and along the bike path, leading to the Railroad Square Park in Keene.
This event offers the community an opportunity to connect directly with local organizations, farmers and artisans as they table during the festival. There's something for everyone! Deep Roots Massage will be on hand to provide free chair massages for those committing to "pay it forward" and do something to help preserve and protect our environment. Art organizations will be plentiful - from Arts Alive to Friends of Public Art and the Mariposa Museum and World Culture Center. Kids will have plenty to do, making magic wants with Allyce's Barefoot Books, "seed bombs" with Community Garden Connections, playing games or meeting with Ribby, the Swampbats mascot.
This years' festival will feature the Keene Farmers' Market in the vacant lot next to the Co-op; shop Ruffled Feathers Farm, Manning Hill Farm, Beadin' in Eden, Deer Ridge Farm and more. In addition, there will be a vendor fair inside the Co-op featuring samples from other local producers, including 603 Brewery, Maple Nut Kitchen, Vermont Veggie Burgers and many more. You can also find free samples of product and raffle prizes throughout the store, including reusable shopping bags for the first 500 customers through the registers.
The Co-op's Deli will host a Local Food BBQ on the cafe patio during the festival. Featured foods include a 100% grass-fed Walpole Valley Farms beef burger, a Sweet Italian Sausage made with pork from Archway Farm in Keene, and a House-made Veggie burger. House-made side dishes and desserts also available for purchase in addition to the full hot bar menu, sandwiches and smoothies inside the Monadnock Food Co-op.
The one-and-only Caterpillar Lab will be on hand, blending art, science, environmental education and their love of caterpillars! The Caterpillar Lab rears and raises hundreds of caterpillars, providing children and adults the opportunity to explore and learn about native and non-native caterpillars; the caterpillars are taken all over the region for educational programming at schools, museums and festivals and have even been featured on the BBC.
The Keene Music Festival will sponsor live music in the amphitheater, including Jed Crook, The Solar Sisters, Brian Dickens and the band Burr.
