Event Description:
The Keene Family YMCA, Monadnock Voices for Prevention (MVP), Monadnock Alcohol and Drug Abuse Coalition (MADAC), and Emily Daniels of HERE This NOW are partnering on this YMCA Community Impact Event. This event is a follow up to this Spring’s Healing After Tragedy: A Community Conversation for All of Us event– It will include an overview of trauma and traumatic experiences and how they impact communities like the Monadnock Region. Youth and young adults will describe their trauma experiences through personal stories, poetry, and music. It will be followed by a facilitated dialogue with event participants to help bridge the gap between opposing viewpoints and different generations. The event seeks to destigmatize conversations about taboo topics such as depression, suicidality, and substance misuse or addiction and to build a stronger sense of connection and shared experience in our community.
