Clarinet, Flute and Contemporary Ensembles
Keene State College Music Department presents the Clarinet, Flute, and Contemporary Ensembles on Saturday, April 21 at 7:30 in the Alumni Recital Hall at the Redfern Arts Center. The Clarinet Choir, directed by Stephanie Jenkins, will perform four short works in a variety of styles, from thoughtful to playful, including “Beethoven’s 9th Symphony (In 5 Minutes),” which accomplishes “the monumental task of condensing Beethoven's longest symphony down from 75 minutes to just 5 minutes.” Come and hear the Flute Ensemble, directed by Robin Matathias, perform an eclectic mix of repertoire, including two wonderful student compositions. KSC’s Contemporary Ensemble, “The Currants,” co-directed by Heather Gilligan and Christopher Swist, will present chamber works of varied instrumentation including guitar, flute, clarinet, piano, and percussion. This ensemble’s repertoire runs the gamut from fully notated to improvisatory. This concert has a little bit of everything! A family-friendly musical event, it is free and open to the public.
