On April 22nd at 7 p.m., grammy award-winning composer and cellist Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort, Trio Globo, Cello Man) returns to Mariposa for a special concert honoring Earth Day and the opening of the exhibit, Boundless: The Art of Susan Prince Thompson. Artist-in-residence at the Cathedral of St. John the Divine, faculty member at the Berklee School of Music, and a long-time member of the legendary Paul Winter Consort, Eugene's passion for the responsive flow of improvisatory music has made him a favorite of audiences the world over. He has performed as a soloist at the International Celo Festival in Manchester, England, Rencontres d'Ensembles de Violoncelles in Beauvais, France, the World Cello Congress in Baltimore, and the Rio International Cello Encounter in Rio de Janeiro. A prolific and ingenious artist, the late Susan Prince Thompson inspired and touched the lives of many people in the Monadnock region, as a mother, art teacher (at The Well and at High Mowing School), friend, and artist who exhibited throughout New England, including at the Portland Museum of Art. This exhibit curated by Mariposa, Susan's family and friends, explores not only the work of a visionary artist, but also the role of the artist in community and the power of possibility.
