Big Book: Pages for Peace
ANNOUNCING OUR NEXT EXHIBIT... The Biggest Book in the World About Peace! Opening July 10th at the Mariposa The Mariposa is excited to bring the Big Book: Pages for Peace to the Monadnock Region starting July 10th! The product of twelve years of work by members of a middle school writers’ club in Groton, MA, this project was born from the simple conviction that young people CAN make a difference in helping to create a more peaceful world. The Big Book is, quite literally, the biggest book in the world about peace, with over 1,000 pages, each measuring an incredible 12 feet tall by 10 feet wide. It includes thousands of contributions (with contributors including Nobel Laureates such as the Dalai Lama, Nelson Mandela, and President Jimmy Carter, along with Dr. Helen Caldicott, Mother Teresa, Maya Angelou, Senator Ted Kennedy, and Pete Seeger). The book has been displayed at the JFK Library in Boston and the United Nations Headquarters in New York City. The Big Book offers a highly accessible, multi-dimensional teaching tool to engage audiences across age groups in thinking about how to contribute to a more peaceful and sustainable future. Come visit starting July 10, or call 603-924-4555 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to inquire about booking a summer camp visit or field trip to see this special exhibit.
